About Captions

Captions lets you add a title and subtitles to your slideshows. These are shown in the lower left corner of the screen.

The Caption shows a title and a subtitle in the lower left corner of the screen.

The default behaviour for captions is that they are always shown for images and shown for only 5 seconds for videos. This is customizable with the image_caption_duration and video_caption_duration attributes in the settings.

Caption File

The simplest way to add captions is by adding a _caption.txt to a folder. The file content should have two lines:

Example of the _caption.txt file that generated the overlay above:

Hawaii
Iao Valley, Maui

Settings Captions

You can also add caption in the local section of the settings, and in this case it's possible to apply different captions to different files inside a folder.

"local":
{
	"islands/hawaii/": {"caption_title": "Hawaiian Islands", "caption_subtitle": "Beautiful Islands"},
	"islands/hawaii/hawaii_05.jpg": {"caption_title": "Hawaii", "caption_subtitle": "Iao Valley, Maui"}
}

In this example, when the file islands/hawaii/hawaii_05.jpg is played, the caption defined in its line will replace the default caption for the folder (in this case, defined in the line above).

Remember that islands/hawaii/hawaii_05.jpg has to match the actual folder organisation of the slideshow.
